Flying the flag of True Blue Racing, we are dedicating our time and skills on The World Match Racing Tour to gain and retain attention to the quality of our seas.
At the event venues, we will encourage yacht clubs and marinas to do their part in the clean up of our oceans. Organizations will be exposed to, and encouraged to implement, the wildly successful initiative -SeaBin. SeaBins are floating trash collection devices designed to remove debris, plastics, and pollutants from marinas, harbors, and other calm water environments. Developed by the Seabin Project, these devices function like underwater garbage bins, using a pump to draw in water and capture floating waste in a mesh bag. They can also filter out microplastics and surface oils, helping to improve water quality. SeaBins provide an automated, low-maintenance solution for reducing ocean pollution and raising awareness about marine conservation.
All of these Yacht Clubs have youth training programs. Plogging is a Swedish eco-friendly fitness trend that combines jogging with picking up litter, helping to keep natural environments clean while promoting physical activity. It has now spread globally as a fun and impactful way to tackle pollution. Incorporating plogging into sailing programs can be a great way to engage youth sailors in environmental conservation. As a cross training opportunity, sailors can dedicate time to collecting litter along shorelines, marinas, and nearby coastal areas. By integrating plogging into sailing programs, we can foster a stronger sense of responsibility for marine conservation and inspire children to protect our waterways.
Most, if not all of these youth, are blessed enough to travel to local and international regattas. The All Blacks' motto "Sweep the Shed" is a powerful reminder that no one is too important to take care of the basics, emphasizing humility, teamwork, and respect. In the context of youth competing at regattas, this principle extends beyond personal responsibility to include the natural environment around us. Just as the All Blacks ensure their locker room is cleaner than they found it, sailors should take pride in leaving regatta venues in better condition than when they arrived. By embracing this mindset, young sailors set a standard of respect for both their sport and the environment, reinforcing the values of good sportsmanship and stewardship of our waterways.
Through True Blue Racing, we are not only competing at the highest level but also inspiring youth sailors to take responsibility for the health of our oceans. By promoting initiatives, we aim to empower the next generation of sailors to lead by example. Through small but meaningful actions, young sailors can make a lasting impact, ensuring our waterways remain clean and protected for future generations.

Before or after sailing, participants can dedicate time to collecting litter along shorelines, marinas, and rigging areas, fostering a culture of responsibility and stewardship. Coaches can include plogging as part of warm-up routines, encouraging sailors to jog while removing debris, turning it into an engaging team-building exercise. By embedding plogging into their training, youth sailors develop a lasting commitment to protecting the marine environment. We can only protect the future by educating the youth.

The All Blacks' motto "Sweep the Shed" emphasizes humility, responsibility, and respect—values that apply directly to youth sailors competing at regatta venues worldwide. Just as the All Blacks take pride in leaving their locker room cleaner than they found it, young sailors should take responsibility for their surroundings, ensuring that regatta venues are left in better condition after each event. This means properly disposing of waste, picking up litter—even if it isn’t theirs—and respecting the facilities and volunteers who make these events possible. By adopting this mindset, youth sailors demonstrate professionalism, environmental stewardship, and a commitment to the sport, setting a strong example for generations to follow.
